Development programme for rehabilitation centre staff begins

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Social Development has launched a professional development programme for staff of government rehabilitation centres for the 2026-2027 academic year, on Sunday.
The programme aims to develop national competencies and enhance the professional knowledge and skills of staff so that they can contribute to improving the quality of the rehabilitation services provided to people with disabilities.
The programme includes a series of training programmes and specialised workshops conducted over several days, through both in-person and virtual learning.
The programme includes specialised courses in Applied Behavioral Therapy (ABAT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), in addition to a number of workshops and lectures covering the latest professional practices in the field of rehabilitation. This will enhance the efficiency of staff and keep them abreast of scientific and professional developments.
Dr Nadia bint Ali al Ajmi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Centres for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities at the Ministry of Social Development, said that the ministry continuously strives to develop the national competencies of staff working in the rehabilitation sector. This stems from its belief that investing in human capital is fundamental to improving the quality of services provided to persons with disabilities.
She added that the ministry applies integrated plans for building professional capacities and providing a supportive environment for continuous learning and the exchange of expertise. This enhances the efficiency of practitioners and improves institutional performance of rehabilitation centres, aligning with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
This vision aims to build a comprehensive and sustainable social system based on empowering national talent and adopting best practices in providing rehabilitation services, thereby achieving high-quality institutional performance and improving the services provided to beneficiaries.
