Musandam concludes summer sports, cultural programmes

MUSANDAM: The Directorate of Culture, Sports and Youth in Musandam Governorate has concluded the fifth edition of its summer programme following two months of sporting, cultural and youth activities across the governorate.

Held from June 15 to August 15, 2026, the ‘Sports Summer – Musandam Summer 5’ programme targeted different segments of society and attracted strong participation from residents.

Activities were organised across Khasab, Bukha, Dibba, Madha and Lima in cooperation with local clubs, government and private institutions and community organisations.

Building on the success of previous editions, the programme sought to make productive use of the summer holiday by developing participants’ abilities, discovering young talent and encouraging wider involvement in sporting, cultural and youth initiatives.

Sport formed a key component of the programme, with activities and training centres organised in cooperation with clubs in Khasab, Bukha, Dibba and Madha. Additional programmes were held at the Lima Cultural and Sports Centre and the Khasab Sports Complex under the supervision of specialised coaches.

A summer camp organised in cooperation with Al Fuhood Academy offered children and young people sports training, recreational activities and competitions aimed at developing their skills and promoting teamwork.

The cultural and youth programme featured workshops and lectures on short-story writing, cybersecurity, road safety, civil defence, arts and virtual reality. Other activities focused on developing young people’s skills and encouraging community participation.

Volunteering was promoted through ‘Isnad’, a youth volunteer programme designed to build participants’ capabilities, foster a culture of voluntary work and prepare young people to contribute effectively to community initiatives and events.

The programme also supported youth talent through artistic workshops and competitions, including a photography contest titled ‘National Identity – A Traditional Craft’, which encouraged participants to showcase Musandam’s heritage and local identity creatively.

Abdulrahman bin Ahmed al Mulla, Director of the Directorate of Culture, Sports and Youth in Musandam Governorate, said the programme’s success reflected the collective efforts of organisers, employees, coaches, supervisors, clubs and partner institutions.

“We are pleased with the achievements of Sports Summer and Musandam Summer 5, as well as the strong participation in programmes held across the governorate,” he said.

“We sought to offer diverse activities combining sports, culture and youth engagement while providing opportunities for all segments of society to participate and benefit.”

Al Mulla thanked the directorate’s employees, coaches, supervisors, local clubs and partner organisations for their contributions to the programme.

He added that the directorate would continue developing its initiatives based on participants’ feedback and lessons learned, with the aim of expanding cultural, sporting and youth programmes across Musandam Governorate.
