Oman sees major increase in prices of vegetables, fruits

Muscat: The inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman reached 3.2 percent during July 2026 compared to the same month in 2025.
Data from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed an increase in the prices of several subgroups compared to July 2025.
Prices for vegetables rose by 19.9 percent, fruits by 15.8 percent, meat by 8.7 percent, fish by 5.7 percent, and non-alcoholic beverages by 3.3 percent.
Prices for sugar, jam, honey, and sweets also increased by 2.4 percent, milk, cheese, and eggs by 2.2 percent, other food products by 2.1 percent, bread and cereals by 1.0 percent, and oils and fats by 0.5 percent, compared to the same month in 2025.
The food and non-alcoholic beverages group recorded the highest increase among the main groups at 7.3 percent year-on-year, followed by the transport group at 6.5 percent, then the miscellaneous personal goods and services group at 5.3 percent, the restaurants and hotels group at 3.6 percent, and the furniture, furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance group at 3.1 percent.
Prices in the education group rose by 2.2 percent, health by 1.7 percent, and culture and entertainment by 0.4 percent.

While prices for the communications, tobacco, clothing, and footwear groups remained unchanged compared to July of last year, prices for the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group decreased by 0.6 percent.
Al Dhahirah Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman during July 2026 at 4.4 percent, followed by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate at 3.7 percent, then Muscat and Al Wusta Governorates at 3.4 percent each, then South Al Sharqiyah and Musandam Governorates at 3.0 percent each, and Al Buraimi Governorate at 2.8 percent.
The inflation rate reached 2.5 percent in North Al Batinah and North Al Sharqiyah Governorates, and 2.4 percent in South Al Batinah Governorate, while Dhofar Governorate recorded the lowest inflation rate among the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman at 2.1 percent.
