MSC issues safety tips for boat rides in Oman

Muscat: Oman's Maritime Security Center (MSC) has said that maintaining boat balance and passengers' adherence to safety instructions are essential to avoid falling overboard or loss of control, especially at high speeds or in rough seas.
It is recommended to stay in a safe and stable place inside the boat to ensure safety when waves are high, avoid sudden movements and moving between sides of the boat while sailing and follow the boat captain's instructions to ensure everyone's safety.
It is essential to avoid maintain passengers' balance inside the boat and avoid crowding on one side, avoid passengers standing while sailing, especially at high speeds and avoid sitting on the edge or bow of the boat while sailing.
The Coast Guard Command of the Royal Oman Police recently rescued three people who were drowning after their boat capsized while they were kayaking near Al Qurum Beach in the Wilayat of Bausher.
In another incident, a patrol from the Coast Guard in the North Al Batinah Governorate spotted a child about to drown off the Silver Jubilee Park in the Wilayat of Suhar.
The team rescued him and provided him with first aid; he was in good health.
