MUSCAT, AUGUST 18
Asyad Shipping Company SAOG has taken delivery of the first of two second-hand baby-Capesize dry bulk carriers, with both ships due to enter three-year time charters with an international freight operator, the company said in a disclosure to the Muscat Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
The vessel, ‘Ain Sahlnoot’, has been received, while the second, ‘Ain Hamran’, is scheduled for delivery next week, according to the filing. Asyad Shipping said both would be employed on three-year time-charter contracts with what it described as a leading international dry bulk freight operator.
The company announced on May 21 that it had signed agreements to acquire the two carriers for a total consideration of approximately RO 29.2 million (about $75.8 million). ‘Ain Sahlnoot’ was built in 2020 and ‘Ain Hamran’ in 2021, each with a capacity of 100,309 deadweight tonnes.
Dr Ibrahim al Nadhairi, Chief Executive Officer, said the acquisitions put the company’s investment strategy into action. “Their immediate deployment on three-year time charter contracts will strengthen our Dry Bulk performance and provide clear commercial visibility,” he said. “This disciplined approach to fleet growth supports sustainable long-term value for our stakeholders.”
Asyad Shipping, which trades on the MSX under the symbol ASCO, operates one of the largest globally diversified fleets in deep-sea transportation, with approximately 90 vessels serving customers in more than 60 countries. The company has been operating for more than 20 years across five business segments: crude, dry bulk, gas, liner and products.
