Muscat: Muscat Municipality has unveiled plans to construct a new generation of pedestrian bridges based on an approved modern concept design.

Engineered to optimize daytime usability, the new structure features integrated shading alongside architectural treatments that maximize natural light and ventilation, balancing environmental performance with aesthetic appeal. To enhance accessibility and user convenience, the bridges will be equipped with both elevators and escalators. Furthermore, on-site solar panels will generate the necessary operational and lighting power, reinforcing sustainability and improving overall energy efficiency.

The user-friendly bridges will also help in saving lives as it may be noted be noted that 259 pedestrians were injured while 89 lost their lives in Muscat in 2025 from traffic accidents.

The last date to collect documents is September 9, for bids submission is September 22. The bid opening date is expected to be September 22.
