CDAA team completes training programme in China

MUSCAT: The Water Rescue Team of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) concluded its participation in a specialised training programme in the People’s Republic of China.
The programme is part of the CDAA’s efforts to develop the capabilities of its personnel and enhance their readiness to respond to water incidents and natural disasters according to the latest practices.
The programme focused on rescue methods in flowing water and valleys, and mechanisms for handling incidents related to flash floods. This is in addition to field exercises and incident response simulation aimed at improving response speed and efficiency.

The programme involved training on the use of modern equipment and technologies in water rescue operations, the application of field leadership and coordination techniques and decision-making in high-risk environments. The aim is to raise the operational readiness of rescue teams and enable them to perform their duties effectively and professionally.
The team’s participation reflects the CDAA’s commitment to developing the capabilities of its personnel, exchanging expertise with specialised training institutions as well as benefiting from international experiences and practices in rescue operations and effective emergency management.

Brigadier General Dr Hamad bin Abdullah al Hammadi, Director-General of the CDAA, said that the training of national personnel according to the latest international standards is a fundamental pillar in developing the civil defence and ambulance system. He added that specialised training programmes contribute to transferring advanced expertise and knowledge to work teams and developing their field skills, adding that such programmes enhance the readiness of rescue teams to deal with various challenges and incidents effectively and professionally, which is reflected in the speed of response and the quality of services provided to the community.
