UAE visitors top Oman’s tourism arrivals

Muscat: Oman’s tourism sector continued its upward trajectory during the first half of 2026, with the latest figures released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showing strong visitor growth from regional and international markets.
According to the data, visitors from the United Arab Emirates ranked first among all nationalities, reaching 491,503 by the end of June 2026. Indian nationals followed in second place with 382,015 visitors, while Germany emerged as the leading European source market, recording 68,771 visitors during the same period.
The figures underscore Oman’s growing appeal as a destination that combines natural beauty, cultural heritage and modern tourism infrastructure, while reinforcing its reputation as one of the safest and most stable countries in the region.
India’s continued presence as the second-largest source market highlights the long-standing economic and cultural links between the two countries. Improved air connectivity and growing awareness of tourism offerings have further strengthened Oman’s appeal among Indian travellers seeking authentic cultural experiences, pristine landscapes and premium hospitality.
Meanwhile, Germany’s ranking among the top three visitor markets demonstrates Oman’s expanding presence in Europe. German travellers have increasingly shown interest in eco-tourism, adventure travel and heritage experiences, areas in which Oman enjoys a distinct competitive advantage.
Khalid bin Rashid al Marzouqi, a tour guide, said the results reflect years of strategic investment in tourism infrastructure and destination development. “The first-half figures clearly demonstrate that Oman has become a preferred destination for travellers from across the world. The country’s success is built not only on its breathtaking landscapes but also on an integrated tourism ecosystem that includes safety, high-quality infrastructure, improved services and an increasingly attractive investment environment.'
Beyond its internationally recognised security and stability, Oman offers remarkable geographical diversity. Towering mountains, dramatic wadis, pristine beaches, vast deserts and Unesco-recognised heritage sites provide visitors with a wide range of authentic experiences throughout the year. Traditional souqs, historic forts and rich cultural traditions continue to distinguish Oman from many competing destinations.
The latest visitor statistics represent more than encouraging numbers. They reflect the growing confidence of international travellers in Oman as a destination defined by safety, authenticity, sustainability and hospitality. With continued investment and strategic planning, Oman is steadily strengthening its position as one of the Middle East’s leading tourism and investment destinations.
