Child Law Review moves towards legislative reform

MUSCAT: The Working Group for the Review and Development of the Child Law, affiliated with the National Committee for Family Affairs, reviewed the timeline of its work phases during its first meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Shaikh Rashid Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development for Family and Community Development Affairs and Member of the National Committee for Family Affairs, to ensure the execution of the review and development process.
The meeting comes within the framework of national efforts aimed at reviewing and developing child-related legislation to keep pace with social and legislative developments and changes, thereby enhancing the child rights protection system in Oman.
The meeting addressed legal articles regarding which several observations were received, in preparation for studying and analyzing them and formulating appropriate proposals and recommendations in their regard.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of integrated action among relevant entities to accomplish the team's tasks in accordance with best practices, contributing to the development of the legal framework governing child rights in alignment with national legislation and relevant international conventions. - ONA
