Dhofar Intl Film Festival invites global film entries

MUSCAT: The Dhofar International Film Festival will be held from September 6 to 9 at major theatres in Salalah, the Oman Film Society (OFS) has announced.
The festival, open to both Omani and expatriate film-makers, is inviting short films ranging from four to 20 minutes in any language, including Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Persian, Hindi and Korean, as well as silent films. High-quality submission links must be shared with the festival committee by July 30.
“With the Dhofar International Film Festival, we aim to encourage film-makers from across the globe to showcase their creative works, network with peers from different countries and promote an international film culture in the Sultanate of Oman,” said Anwar al Reziqi, Chairman of the OFS.
Several awards will be presented, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Story, Best Script, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Music.
The festival features two main categories: Narrative Short Film and Documentary Short Film. Entries must have been produced between 2025 and 2026 and should include English subtitles for Arabic or other-language films and Arabic subtitles for non-Arabic films.
“The film should not have been previously broadcast on any television channel, website, mobile platform or other public medium. The producer and director must also ensure they have the rights to submit the film, including ownership of music and scripts,” Al Reziqi said.
The final screening version must be submitted in MOV or MP4 format with a resolution of 1080/1920 pixels through a downloadable electronic link that remains accessible until the completion of the selection process.
Films containing inflammatory content related to violence, sectarianism, public disturbance or blasphemy will not be accepted, the organisers said. Further details are available through the festival’s official website.
