Omani fighters sweep FFC 6.0 in Muscat

MUSCAT: Omani fighters produced a clean sweep as FFC 6.0 FITBOX Fighting Championship concluded successfully at the sub-hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Friday night.
The sixth edition attracted a strong crowd and featured 15 professional bouts, including 14 mixed martial arts contests and one Muay Thai fight, bringing together local and international fighters from around 15 countries.
The championship was organised by Kerdi Trading SPC under the supervision of Ali Bilal Kerdi, owner of the company and chairman of the organising committee. The event was presented by Sohar International, with Muscat Steel among its main partners.
Oman enjoyed an impressive night inside the cage, with all five home fighters Abdulmajeed, Nawaf, Musab, Mahmood and Aymen emerging victorious against international opposition.
Abdulmajeed defeated Iran’s Aref Ali in the heavyweight contest, while Nawaf overcame Iranian opponent Pejman in the super middleweight division.
Nawaf received further recognition after being named the best Omani fighter of FFC 6.0, earning a car presented by Mohsin Haider Darwish
Musab secured victory against Egypt’s Mohammed at welterweight, and Mahmood prevailed over Iran’s Sobhan in the super heavyweight bout.

Aymen completed the successful Omani showing by defeating Pakistan’s Mustafa in the evening’s Muay Thai contest. The five victories underlined the growing technical standard of local combat sports athletes and their ability to compete against fighters from different international schools.
In the headline middleweight contest, Russia’s Yaaqoub defeated Iran’s Amir Ardalen to cap a competitive programme featuring representatives from Team Khabib and Team Khamzat.
Russian fighter Sharapudin claimed victory over Britain’s Sia in the super middleweight division, while Uzbekistan’s Almardon defeated Iraq’s Khamza at welterweight.
Iraq’s Omer emerged victorious against Russia’s Bagoma in a lightweight contest, while Norway’s Seyamand overcame Brazilian fighter Victor in another lightweight encounter.
The remaining bouts saw Iraq’s Saad defeat Lebanon’s Talal at welterweight, Uzbekistan’s Islam prevail against Iran’s Hesam at lightweight and Iran’s Shadmeher overcome Egypt’s Amro in a welterweight contest.
Tunisia’s Mohamed defeated Ahmed of Spain in the bantamweight division, while Lebanon’s Jawad secured victory over Palestine’s Mohamed in the catchweight bout, completing the list of 15 winners announced by the organisers.
The championship also attracted leading figures from the international combat sports community, including UFC veteran Jack Hermansson, who attended the event in Muscat.
Ali Bilal Kerdi said the success of the sixth edition reflected the championship’s continued technical and organisational development.

Kerdi also thanked Sohar International, Muscat Steel, Mohsin Haider Darwish, voco Muscat Al Mouj, FitBox, the Oman Automobile Association, government bodies, official partners, participating teams and spectators for their contributions.
Kerdi also thanked his partner Mohammed Abdulraouf for his contribution to the development of FFC in Oman.
“The strong public response encourages us to continue developing FFC as an international platform that attracts leading fighters while creating genuine opportunities for Omani talent,” he added.
The successful staging of FFC 6.0 strengthened the championship’s position on Oman’s combat sports calendar and highlighted Oman's growing ability to host major international martial arts events.
