SALALAH: A summer programme for school students titled 'My Summer: Learning and Innovation' was launched on Sunday at the Directorate-General of Education in Dhofar Governorate, aimed at developing students’ skills and encouraging creativity during the summer break.
Organised by the Directorate-General of Education in cooperation with Tithys Oil Montaser Limited, the programme is being held across five centres and targets 300 students. It will continue until August 6.
The programme seeks to make productive use of students’ summer vacation by enhancing their cognitive, technical and life skills while promoting national identity, community engagement, innovation and volunteerism, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The initiative features a variety of educational activities and workshops covering science and innovation, media, sports, culture and literature, arts, economics and entrepreneurship. It also includes social and volunteer activities as well as educational field visits, combining learning with recreation and practical skill development.
The participating centres include Al Saidiya Summer Centre for Boys, Durrat Dhofar Centre, Al Noor Centre, Manba Al Hikma Centre, and Sahlnout Summer Centre for Girls. The centres have been equipped to provide specialised programmes under the supervision of qualified trainers and educators.
The programme reflects the Ministry of Education’s efforts to create safe and engaging learning environments during the summer holiday, helping students discover their talents, strengthen their abilities and prepare them to contribute positively to society and the nation’s future development. - ONA
