Oman Shooting Club Cup draws fierce competition

MUSCAT: The Oman Shooting Club Cup 2026 continues to deliver closely contested action at Action Point Oman in Muscat, with shooters battling for leading positions across four categories and the opportunity to qualify for the tournament’s grand prize draw.

The month-long championship, which runs until August 4, features the M4 .223 rifle, shotgun, Glock 9 mm pistol and Skeeton .22 LR categories. The M4 competition was held from July 12 to 18, followed by the shotgun event from July 19 to 25, while the pistol competition is scheduled from July 29 to August 4. The Skeeton category remains part of the programme through the closing date.

Competition has been particularly tight in the M4 .223 rifle standings, with seven shooters recording the maximum score of 100 points.

Said bin Salim al Kalbani leads the provisional standings with seven inner-centre hits, known as “X” scores, ahead of Mubarak al Salti, who also posted 100 points and seven Xs.

Said bin Muslim al Sarkhi occupies third place after scoring 100 points with six Xs, followed by Saif bin Mohammed al Hajri with five Xs. Mustafa bin Sulaiman al Shamli is fifth with four Xs, while Mazin bin Saleh al Rajhi and Ahmed bin Salim al Kalbani complete the top seven.

The M4 event is contested on the 100-metre range, with each competitor firing 10 shots across two magazines from distances of 60 and 70 metres. Shooters are given one minute for each magazine, placing a premium on accuracy, composure and time management.

In the provisional Skeeton .22 LR standings, Abdullah bin Saeed bin Salim al Darei leads after recording 100 points and five Xs. Ali bin Hamoud al Hadhrami is second with the same score and number of Xs, while Mubarak bin Saeed al Salti stands third with 100 points and three Xs.

Younis bin Juma al Busaidy occupies fourth place after registering 100 points and two Xs. The competition remains open, meaning the standings could change as more shooters complete their attempts.

The Skeeton competition consists of 10 shots on the 50-metre range, with results recorded on official scorecards under the supervision of accredited range officers and judges. The shotgun category features 12 shots across four lanes, including single-target and double-target stages. Meanwhile, the Glock 9 mm pistol event consists of 10 shots across two magazines on the 25-metre range, with one minute allowed for each magazine. Cash prizes of RO 300, RO 200 and RO 100 await the top three competitors in each category. Qualifide competitors will also enter the grand prize draw, with a Jetour X50 awarded for first place, RO 2,000 for second place and RO 1,000 for third.

The tournament is being staged with Sohar International as the main sponsor, alongside Shell, Adventure World, Omantel, Platinum Shield United LLC and Dhofar Insurance.
