Telecom sector strengthens readiness for Khareef 2026

SALALAH: The telecommunications sector has announced its readiness for the Khareef Dhofar Season 2026, with a series of projects implemented to enhance network coverage, capacity and service quality during the annual tourist season.
The initiatives include the installation of 29 new communication stations to expand and improve coverage across various locations in Dhofar, along with 13 additional stations installed along Sultan Said bin Taimur Road to ensure reliable connectivity for road users.
As part of efforts to improve network performance, 40 stations have been upgraded to 5G technology, while the capacity of 58 communication links has been increased to enhance speed and stability. Transmission lines at 30 stations have also been upgraded to improve network efficiency and capacity.
To address increased demand at locations expected to witness high visitor traffic during the season, 38 mobile communication stations have been deployed to strengthen coverage and accommodate the anticipated rise in telecommunications usage.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said the measures reflect the sector’s commitment to enhancing service readiness during peak tourist seasons, meeting users’ needs and ensuring a continuous and secure communication experience across Dhofar Governorate. - ONA
