Al Mughsail road and bridge open to traffic in Dhofar

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has opened the al Mughsail road and bridge to traffic as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of the road network in Dhofar Governorate.

The project, implemented at a total cost exceeding RO9 million, is aimed at improving road connectivity, facilitating smoother traffic movement and supporting the growing transport needs of the governorate.

The opening of the road and bridge forms part of the ministry's broader infrastructure development programme, which seeks to strengthen the road network and improve the safety and quality of transport services across the Sultanate of Oman.

The project includes a 500-metre reinforced concrete bridge supported by 20 piers and two abutments. Built to combine functionality with modern design, the bridge features an underpass, pedestrian walkways between two and seven metres wide, as well as safety barriers and traffic signage to enhance road safety.

The ministry is also incorporating sustainable and advanced technologies across its infrastructure projects, including asphalt recycling to reduce construction waste, solar-powered systems to improve energy efficiency, and remote-controlled paving equipment to enhance precision, safety and operational efficiency.
