AL MUDHAIBI: Al Mudhaibi Industrial City has attracted 14 investment projects worth a combined RO 15 million as work progresses on its first phase of infrastructure, strengthening its role in supporting industrial growth and economic diversification in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
The city, developed by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), has begun infrastructure works covering 1.34 million square metres of its planned 9 million square metre site.
The first phase includes about 14 kilometres of internal roads linking industrial plots, together with water, electricity, sewerage and telecommunications networks. Supporting infrastructure also includes water reservoirs, perimeter fencing, security gates, the Madayn Entrepreneurial Complex and the Masar one-stop investor service centre.
Infrastructure development is valued at RO 17.5 million and has reached about 7 per cent completion, with work continuing ahead of future expansion phases.
The industrial city has secured 14 investment projects, evenly split between seven Omani and seven foreign ventures, reflecting growing interest from local and international investors.
The projects span a range of sectors, including electrical equipment manufacturing, furniture production and poultry processing.
Madayn said the development is expected to support economic diversification by creating new industrial activities, encouraging private-sector investment and generating employment opportunities.
Foreign investments are also expected to facilitate technology transfer and expand export opportunities for Omani products.
The city is designed to support transport, logistics, maintenance and supply-chain activities while providing opportunities for agricultural and handicraft producers in North Al Sharqiyah through improved access to production inputs and markets.
Authorities aim to develop Al Mudhaibi Industrial City into a regional manufacturing hub by 2030, attracting industries including food processing, pharmaceuticals and light manufacturing while promoting sustainability and circular economy practices.
The long-term strategy also envisages the city becoming part of the Sultanate of Oman's network of smart industrial cities, integrating production, exports and innovation in support of Oman Vision 2040.
