Refinery production in Oman reaches 89.9 million barrels

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman produced 89.9 million barrels of refined petroleum products during the first five months of 2026, down 6.8 per cent from 96.5 million barrels in the corresponding period last year, according to preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Production of regular (91 octane) petrol fell 7.8 per cent to 6.81 million barrels, while domestic sales dropped 22.9 per cent to 6.48 million barrels. Exports, however, rose 21.7 per cent to 1.88 million barrels.
Premium (95 octane) petrol production declined 2.4 per cent to 5.49 million barrels. Domestic sales fell 20.1 per cent to 6.04 million barrels, while exports dropped 32.8 per cent to 252,700 barrels.
Diesel production decreased 8.1 per cent to 29.92 million barrels. Sales declined 11.8 per cent to 8.15 million barrels and exports fell 11.1 per cent to 23.09 million barrels.

LPG production declined 5.8 per cent to 4.53 million barrels. Domestic sales dropped 21 per cent to 1.29 million barrels, while exports edged up 0.5 per cent to 1.37 million barrels.
Naphtha production increased 2.2 per cent to 15.60 million barrels and domestic sales rose 7.6 per cent to 5.95 million barrels, although exports declined 8.1 per cent to 9.26 million barrels.
Production of other refined products fell 19.8 per cent to 15.82 million barrels, while domestic sales dropped 32.4 per cent to 12.17 million barrels. Exports increased 4 per cent to 4.41 million barrels.
In the petrochemicals segment, benzene production rose 11.9 per cent to 83,100 metric tonnes, with exports increasing 10.8 per cent to 80,500 metric tonnes.
Paraxylene production climbed to 272,000 metric tonnes from 224,000 metric tonnes a year earlier, while exports rose 8.8 per cent to 275,400 metric tonnes.
Polypropylene production fell 27.1 per cent to 100,800 metric tonnes. Despite the decline in output, domestic sales increased 15.3 per cent to 15,800 metric tonnes, while exports dropped 29.8 per cent to 77,100 metric tonnes. — ONA
