Oman set for Asian U20 handball

Oman’s U20 national handball team will depart for Chuzhou, China, on Sunday to compete in the 19th Asian Men’s Junior (U20) Handball Championship, which will be held from July 15 to 27.

The tournament also serves as the qualification event for the 2027 IHF Men’s Junior World Championship in North Macedonia, with Asia’s top junior teams competing for places at the global event.

Oman have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts China, Saudi Arabia, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong. The team heads into the championship following an intensive preparation programme that included training camps and technical sessions aimed at strengthening physical fitness, tactical discipline and team cohesion ahead of the continental competition.
Oman Handball Association President Musa bin Khamis Al Balushi said the championship represents an important opportunity for the country's young players to gain international experience and compete for a place at the World Championship. He expressed confidence in the squad's commitment and preparations, adding that the federation remains focused on developing young talent capable of strengthening Omani handball in the years ahead.
