Oman, India foreign ministers discuss cooperation, regional developments

MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, received Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, in Muscat on Friday.
During the meeting, they discussed the historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India and explored ways to enhance the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries, particularly in trade, investment, energy, logistics and modern technologies. They also discussed strengthening cooperation between companies in both countries and encouraging strategic partnerships and mutual investments that serve common interests and capitalise on promising economic opportunities.
The two ministers exchanged views on a number of current regional and international developments, including the situation related to shipping and maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and its implications for international trade, energy supplies and supply chains.
Both sides emphasised the importance of continuing coordination and consultation regarding these developments, and supporting efforts aimed at strengthening understanding and cooperation with various parties and mitigating the repercussions of the current situation, in accordance with the provisions of international law and with due regard for the interests of the countries of the region.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at the Foreign Ministry; Ambassador Shaikh Ahmed bin Hashel al Maskari, Head of the Department of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and Regional Neighbourhood at the Foreign Ministry; Prashant Pise, Ambassador-designate of the Republic of India to the Sultanate of Oman; and a number of officials. — ONA
