AL RUSTAQ: A meeting was held in Al Batinah South Governorate, chaired by Eng Masoud bin Said al Hashmi, Governor of Al Batinah South, and attended by representatives from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, the Municipality of Al Batinah South, along with the consulting firm entrusted with preparing the Al Rustaq Structural Plan. The session addressed the latest developments in the plan's preparation and the planning fundamentals aimed at advancing the urban infrastructure and strengthening the developmental assets of the Wilayat of Al Rustaq.
The meeting reviewed a number of key themes related to the future of urban planning in the wilayat, including proposals for city development that align with population and economic growth, while striking a balance between urban expansion and the preservation of heritage identity.
Discussions also covered the expansion of residential neighbourhoods in accordance with modern planning standards, the establishment of industrial zones to diversify economic activities, and the development of the road network and basic infrastructure to enhance connectivity efficiency across various areas.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the importance of rehabilitating and revitalising the wilayat's heritage areas, reflecting their historical and civilisational significance, while contributing to the stimulation of tourism activity and the attraction of investments, alongside supporting small and medium-sized enterprises linked to the tourism sector.
The meeting is part of Al Batinah South Governorate's ongoing efforts to support urban and economic development, adopt forward-looking planning visions that contribute to achieving comprehensive development goals, and enhance the quality of life in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq. — ONA
