Motorists caught driving above 200 km/h on Sultan Said bin Taimour Road

 

MUSCAT: The Directorate General of Traffic has apprehended two motorists for exceeding 200 km/h on Sultan Said bin Taimour Road while travelling towards Dhofar Governorate, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said.

The motorists were detected by mobile speed monitoring devices travelling at speeds of 222 km/h and 203 km/h, significantly above the maximum speed limit permitted on the road.

The ROP confirmed that the two drivers were stopped and that the necessary legal procedures are being completed in accordance with the applicable traffic laws and regulations.

The authority reiterated its call on all motorists to adhere to speed limits and traffic regulations, stressing that excessive speeding remains one of the leading causes of serious road accidents. It urged road users to drive responsibly to safeguard their own lives and the safety of others, particularly during the busy travel season to Dhofar.
