Event seeks to create awareness on importance of organ donation

MUSCAT: Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) organised an awareness event on organ donation under the slogan Grant the Gift of Life, at Al Araimi Boulevard. The event aimed to increase public awareness about the importance of organ donation and encourage individuals to register as donors.
The event organisers aimed to explain organ donation, the organs and tissues that can be donated, the medical and legal criteria for donation and the registration governing the process. It also aimed to clear common misconceptions and myths related to organ donation. The event included a panel discussion on the religious and legal aspects of organ donation, presented by Dr Hussein bin Ali al Sinani, Assistant Attorney-General and Hamoud bin Abdullah al Habsi, a preacher at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.
The accompanying exhibition featured several awareness booths, including information on organ donation, the organs and tissues that can be donated, the medical and legal standards ruling the donation process. — ONA
