HM meets UK Prime Minister

 

London: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik met on Thursday with Sir Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), at 10 Downing Street in the British capital, London.

The meeting reviewed the deep-rooted and enduring historical ties between the two friendly nations. Discussions centered on ways to further elevate the strategic partnership in a manner that advances shared interests and unlocks broader prospects for bilateral cooperation across multiple domains—in fulfillment of the mutual aspirations of their peoples for sustained growth and prosperity.

The meeting also addressed the regional developments, with an exchange of perspectives on effective pathways toward de-escalation and conflict prevention, in support of ongoing negotiations and diplomatic initiatives aimed at restoring safe and secure maritime navigation through the Gulf's strategic waterways. In addition, the two sides explored avenues for reaching a comprehensive and lasting agreement on outstanding issues—foremost among them the Iranian nuclear file—in a manner that upholds regional stability, fosters peaceful coexistence and promotes constructive engagement among all neighboring states in the region.

The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Badr bin Mohammed al Manthri, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Kingdom.

From the British side, the meeting was attended by Jonathan Powell, National Security Adviser and Dr Liane Saunders, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Sultanate of Oman.
