Oil pollution not found - AL Halaniyat

The Environment Authority, in coordination with the relevant authorities said they found no traces of oil near Al. Halaniyat islands.
The Authority said it is closely monitoring the grounding of a ship near Qibliya Island, located within the marine buffer zone surrounding the Halaniyat Islands in the Wilayat of Shalim and the Halaniyat Islands in the Governorate of Dhofar.
The Authority assured the residents of the Hallaniyat Islands that a technical team from the Directorate General of Environment in the Governorate of Dhofar visited the site of the incident yesterday, Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
The team inspected the grounded ship and collected samples from the coastal waters surrounding Hallaniyat Island. The test results have shown no traces of oil pollution so far.
Meanwhile, the relevant teams at the Environment Authority, in cooperation with the National Emergency Management Committee, are continuing to monitor the incident and take the necessary measures to address any potential spillage as per the approved plans.
The Environment Authority has urged everyone to obtain information related to the incident from official sources and not to be misled by rumors or circulate unverified information, thus contributing to the dissemination of accurate and reliable information.
