OMSB organizes awareness event on organ donation

MUSCAT: Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) organized an awareness event on organ donation under the slogan Grant the Gift of Life, at Al Araimi Boulevard on Wednesday.

The event aimed to increase public awareness about the importance of organ donation and encourage individuals to register as donors.

The event organizers targeted to explain organ donation, the organs and tissues that can be donated, the medical and legal criteria for donation and the registration governing the process. It also clear common misconceptions and myths related to organ donation.

The event included a panel discussion on the religious and legal aspects of organ donation, presented by Dr Hussein bin Ali al Sinani, Assistant Attorney General, and Hamood bin Abdullah al Habsi, a religious preacher at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.

The event included a dialogue session that addressed the religious and legal aspects of organ donation. The accompanying exhibition featured several awareness booths, including information on organ donation, the organs and tissues that can be donated, the medical and legal standards ruling the donation process and its stages up to the transplant procedure. — ONA
