MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, participated via video-conferencing in the extraordinary meeting of the GCC Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee.
The Sultanate of Oman was represented at the meeting by Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
The meeting discussed the executive steps taken by the GCC Secretariat-General to prepare a comprehensive study aimed at enhancing joint Gulf integration in strategic sectors, contributing to supporting the march of Gulf joint action and enhancing water security in the council's countries.
The meeting also reviewed a proposal to prepare a study on the possibility of implementing water interconnection projects between the GCC countries as a strategic step to enhance water security and to hold a workshop bringing together senior officials and specialists from member states.
This workshop aims to review the study plan to be implemented by the Secretariat-General, exchange views, and benefit from national expertise and experiences in a way that supports the implementation of the project and achieves its desired objectives. - ONA
