Muscat: Muscat Municipality has outlined a set of health and safety requirements for vehicles used in the transport of sewage and wastewater, as part of efforts to regulate the activity and ensure safe handling of waste materials.
Under the requirements, sewage tanker vehicles must be specialised for this purpose only and should not be used for any other activities.
The vehicles must be equipped with secure and safe tanks to prevent leakage and ensure the protection of public health and the surrounding environment.
The municipality also stressed the need for vehicles to clearly display details related to the nature of the activity, tank capacity and licence information, while ensuring regular cleaning and maintenance of tanks to prevent contamination and the spread of pollutants.
The guidelines further require sewage disposal to be carried out only at approved locations, reinforcing compliance with environmental and public safety standards.
The move comes within Muscat Municipality’s ongoing efforts to enhance monitoring of service activities and promote responsible waste management practices across the governorate.
