Oman launches FIFA World Cup 2026 commemorative Silver Coin

 

Muscat: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO), in cooperation with FIFA, has announced the launch of a commemorative silver coin marking the FIFA World Cup 2026, set to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

According to the CBO, the coin has been crafted to the highest technical standards and minted from 0.999 fine silver. It carries a face value of one Omani Rial, measures 38.61 mm in diameter and weighs 28.28 grams.

A total of 5,000 commemorative coins have been minted for the occasion, with 1,000 allocated for sale in the local market. The remaining 4,000 coins will be distributed internationally through FIFA-authorized sales partners.

The CBO noted that the coin is legal tender at its face value and will be available for purchase from June 30, 2026, through its branches in Ruwi, Salalah and Sohar, as well as Oman Post’s sales outlet at Opera Galleria.

The coin will be offered at a starting price of OMR 73, with the final selling price subject to fluctuations in global silver markets.
