SUWAIQ: Madayn has stepped up efforts to attract investment to Suwaiq Industrial City, showcasing opportunities in the emerging industrial hub as part of Oman’s broader drive to diversify the economy and expand industrial activity.
The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) hosted an introductory meeting with investors and business owners to highlight the advantages and incentives available at the industrial city, which was launched in 2024.
Covering more than 12.2 million square metres, Suwaiq Industrial City is being developed across four phases and will eventually comprise 1,430 investment plots catering to industrial, logistics and service-sector activities.
Hamoud bin Abdullah al Balushi, Assistant General Manager of Suwaiq Industrial City, said the project was designed to provide a modern investment environment supported by integrated infrastructure and a business ecosystem capable of supporting long-term industrial growth in North Al Batinah Governorate.
He noted that the city has already begun attracting investment projects worth more than RO 2.1 million, reflecting growing investor interest in the development.
The industrial city includes 1,172 industrial plots and 258 logistics plots, offering a range of options for businesses seeking expansion opportunities.
During the event, officials highlighted the city’s strategic location on the Al Batinah Expressway, which provides direct access to ports, airports and major domestic and regional markets. The location is expected to strengthen supply chains and improve the movement of goods across Oman.
Madayn said the city is targeting investments in petrochemicals, construction materials, recycling and environmental industries, logistics, and food and agricultural processing.
To attract early investors, the industrial city is offering a package of incentives, including a full rent exemption for the first two years and a 50 per cent discount for the following three years.
Officials said infrastructure preparations are progressing according to schedule, with detailed designs completed and tenders issued for development works. Construction of roads, utility networks and support facilities is expected to begin later this year.
Madayn said the long-term vision for Suwaiq Industrial City centres on attracting high-value local and international investments, supporting industrial expansion, creating sustainable employment opportunities and strengthening Oman’s industrial ecosystem in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. — ONA
