CPA seizes 835 illegal, unsafe products in al Dakhiliyah

Muscat: The Consumer Protection Department in al Dakhiliyah Governorate seized 835 non-compliant commercial goods during intensive field inspections of retail outlets, as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard consumers and ensure the safety of products circulating in local markets.
Officials from the Consumer Protection Department carried out inspection and monitoring campaigns across markets and commercial establishments in the governorate, following investigations that revealed violations of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations, as well as relevant ministerial decisions and circulars.
The inspection drive resulted in the seizure of 835 items of various types. These included 52 expired products, 575 unlicensed agricultural pesticides classified as prohibited products based on a report issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and 105 goods containing indecent images, in violation of Ministerial Decision No. 697/2015 under the Consumer Protection Law.
All seized items were confiscated, while administrative fines exceeding RO 600 were issued against the violating establishments in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Consumer Protection Department affirmed that such inspection campaigns form part of its ongoing supervisory plan aimed at combating unlawful practices and preventing the circulation of unsafe products in markets.
It also urged members of the public to report any observed violations through official communication channels, reinforcing community partnership and supporting national efforts to enhance quality of life in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
