National Ferries carried over 250,000 passengers in 2025

MUSCAT: National Ferries Company (NFC), Oman’s national maritime transport operator, carried more than 250,000 passengers during 2025, averaging around 690 passengers a day, according to the company’s latest operational statistics.
The company also transported more than 64,000 vehicles and handled over 27,000 tonnes of cargo during the year, underscoring its growing role in supporting mobility, trade and tourism across the Sultanate of Oman.
NFC operates a fleet of five passenger and vehicle ferries, in addition to a dedicated cargo and landing vessel serving coastal and island communities. The company’s services provide a vital transport link between mainland Oman and key island destinations, facilitating the movement of passengers, vehicles and commercial goods.
The maritime operator said its services continue to contribute to economic development by strengthening connectivity between governorates and islands, supporting tourism activity, enabling trade and creating employment opportunities.
The company maintains an Omanisation rate of 97 per cent, reflecting its commitment to developing national talent in the maritime sector.
In addition to scheduled passenger services, NFC provides commercial cargo transport and logistical support for projects and businesses operating in remote areas. The company also offers special tourism and exploratory cruises that showcase Oman’s coastal and marine attractions.
Passenger demand typically peaks during Musandam’s winter tourism season between November and February, as well as during summer holidays and Masirah Island’s camping and turtle-nesting season, which runs from April to October.
As part of its expansion strategy, NFC is implementing several projects to enhance service quality and operational efficiency. These include the refurbishment and upgrading of existing vessels and the construction of a new passenger and vehicle ferry at Asyad Drydock.
