ISC Oman honours outgoing Indian Ambassador at farewell event

 

MUSCAT: The Indian Social Club Oman (ISC Oman) recently hosted a heartfelt farewell reception in honour of G V Srinivas, recognising his distinguished tenure and contributions to strengthening India–Oman relations and deepening community engagement.

The evening opened with a welcome address by Suhail Khan, Chairman of ISC Oman, who reflected on the Ambassador’s impactful leadership and engagement with the Indian community in Oman.

He highlighted key milestones during his tenure, including significant embassy reforms, coordination during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Oman, and the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Khan also praised the Ambassador’s accessibility, humility, and his efforts in building strong people-to-people ties.

A key highlight of the programme was the presentation of the design concept for the ISC Amerat Project by General Secretary Shakeel K M, along with project consultant Tufail Ahmed, offering attendees a vision of the landmark community initiative.

This was followed by a presentation on the marketing and sponsorship strategy for the Amerat Project by Govind Negi and Manoj Ranade, outlining development plans and partnership opportunities.

The evening also featured cultural performances by Shamshad and Jaikumar, adding a vibrant touch to the farewell gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Malhotra, Convenor of the Hindi Wing, expressed appreciation for the Ambassador’s efforts in strengthening community bonds and engagement throughout his tenure.

In his address, Ambassador Srinivas reflected on his experiences in Oman, sharing memorable moments from his diplomatic service and expressing gratitude to the Indian community for their support and affection.

In a particularly emotional moment, the Ambassador rendered the community song ‘Chalo Chalein Hum,’ drawing warm appreciation from the audience and bringing a heartfelt close to the evening.

He was subsequently felicitated by the ISC Management Committee, linguistic wings, and various ISC groups in recognition of his service, leadership, and enduring contribution to the Indian community in Oman.

The event was attended by dignitaries, community leaders, and members representing ISC’s various linguistic wings, marking a fitting tribute to a diplomat whose tenure leaves behind a lasting legacy.
