MUSCAT: Oman continued to experience intense summer heat on Wednesday, with Mahout recording a scorching 50°C, making it the hottest location in the Sultanate of Oman, according to the latest update from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre under the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Several other regions across the country also witnessed extremely high temperatures, with many areas touching 48°C, highlighting the severity of the ongoing heatwave sweeping across Oman.
The CAA reported 48°C in Al Ramayim, Nizwa, Dima W'attayeen, Bidiyah, and Qarn Al Alam, while Adam and Al Mudhaibi
recorded 47°C.
High temperatures were also observed in parts of Al Sharqiyah North, Al Sharqiyah South, Al Dakhiliyah, and Al Wusta governorates. Even coastal areas were not spared, with parts of Muscat Governorate witnessing temperatures above 40°C, adding to discomfort levels due to humidity.
Authorities have repeatedly urged the public to remain cautious during peak afternoon hours as extreme heat raises the risk of heat exhaustion, dehydration and vehicle-related incidents, including overheating and fires.
