Oman to compete in Asian Games Esports Qualifiers in Malaysia

The Oman National Esports Team will participate in the Asian Games Esports Qualifiers for League of Legends, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 12 to 14, bringing together some of Asia’s top national teams.
The Omani squad consists of Mohammed bin Mohsin bin Saif al Rashdi, Ghassan bin Harith bin Mohammed al Battashi, Majid bin Zuhair bin Haider al Zaabi, Khalid bin Waleed bin Ali al Balushi, Anas bin Sharif bin Mohammed al Bakri and Moel bin Mohammed bin Saud al Rawahi.
The team is coached by Ahmed bin Salim bin Rashid al Wahaibi, while Maitham bin Younis bin Ali al Zadjali will serve as Team Manager.
Members of the national team expressed their pride in representing the Sultanate of Oman in this continental event, describing the participation as an opportunity to compete against some of Asia’s strongest teams. They also highlighted the growing importance of esports in developing youth skills and promoting mutual understanding, cooperation, sportsmanship and fair competition among nations.
Maitham bin Younis bin Ali al Zadjali, Team Manager, said: “We are proud to represent the Sultanate of Oman in the Asian Games Esports Qualifiers and look forward to delivering a performance that reflects the progress of esports in Oman. We are working with a strong sense of unity and discipline to achieve a respectable result against some of Asia’s leading teams and to further strengthen Oman’s presence on the international esports stage.”
The national team is aiming to secure qualification for the esports competitions at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, which will take place in Japan later this year. A successful campaign would underline the rapid development of esports in Oman and the readiness of its players to compete at the highest continental level, while supporting the continued growth of the sector and creating broader opportunities for emerging national talent.
