MINSK: An Omani delegation visiting Belarus ahead of the opening of the Belagro 2026 exhibition has explored the country's experience in food security, industrial development and technological innovation, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and identify new investment opportunities.
Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, accompanied by Ambassador Hamoud bin Salim al Towaiya, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation and non-resident to the Republic of Belarus, visited the Slutsk Cheese Factory in Minsk.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on advanced dairy production technologies, manufacturing processes and the factory's role in supporting Belarus's food industry. Officials also received an overview of the facility's production capabilities and expertise in the dairy sector.
A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, together with representatives of Oman Food Investment Holding Company and Oman European Food Industries Company, visited Belakt in the Volkovysk district of the Grodno region. The delegation toured production lines for infant nutrition and dairy products; and reviewed the latest manufacturing technologies, quality assurance systems and food safety standards employed by the company.
Discussions focused on opportunities for cooperation, knowledge exchange and potential partnerships in the food and dairy industries. Both sides also explored avenues for expanding trade and investment links to support food security and strengthen economic ties between Oman and Belarus.
Meanwhile, Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), led a trade delegation to the Belarus-China Industrial Park, a major industrial zone that offers access to the Eurasian market and provides ready-built industrial facilities for investors.
The delegation reviewed Belarus's industrial capabilities, manufacturing technologies and key economic sectors, while also learning about the incentives and services available to companies seeking to establish operations within the park.
Talks centred on leveraging Belarusian industrial expertise and encouraging Belarusian manufacturers to establish production facilities in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Omani trade delegation also visited the Belarus High-Tech Park, one of the region's leading centres for information technology and innovation. The facility provides a comprehensive ecosystem for technology companies, including incubators, accelerators and specialised support services.
Delegates were briefed on the park's operating model, innovation programmes and advanced infrastructure; and discussed opportunities for technology transfer, knowledge sharing and attracting technology firms to invest in Oman.
