MUSCAT: Sultan Haitham City, the iconic future urban centre of the Sultanate of Oman, is witnessing rapid progress with the implementation of numerous infrastructure packages and strategic projects.
On the third anniversary of the inauguration of the Sultan Haitham City, which falls on May 31, the total value of awarded construction service packages has reached RO 280 million, distributed across 10 different packages. The investment value of new real estate partnerships and developments has exceeded RO 500 million.
Omanis and investors are looking forward to October 2026, which will represent a historic turning point for the Sultan Haitham City project, with the gradual relocation of residents to live there.
This coincides with the readiness of the roads adjacent to Al Wafa neighbourhood, the readiness of the tender for the primary electricity stations and the private school, and the start of the actual implementation of the central park, the valley, and the rehabilitation complex for people with disabilities.
The latest construction indicators show that the overall infrastructure completion rate for the city has reached 40 per cent, with 70 per cent of the total infrastructure tenders awarded and all are currently under construction and parts of the streets and services will be ready for use within the next few months. The past period also witnessed a significant event, namely the inauguration of the Experience and Sales Centre, which opened at the beginning of May as the City’s first iconic building.
Eng Nasser al Hadhrami, Executive Director of the Future Cities Office at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, said, “As we commemorate the third anniversary of the inauguration of Sultan Haitham City, we are witnessing an exceptional scene. The city is currently experiencing an accelerated pace in the implementation of infrastructure packages and is actively engaged in the comprehensive development of all its residential neighbourhoods.
The first phase of this iconic project is registering significant progress, with the preparation and levelling work 100 complete. The initial power stations, bridge construction and sewage networks are nearing completion.
This coincides with the actual commencement of construction operations in leading residential neighbourhoods such as Al Nuha, Al Ahlam, Wadi Zaha, Al Sarouj Oasis, and January Residences, establishing a vibrant and integrated urban environment.
This anniversary also coincides with the launch of the Greater Muscat Master Plan. Sultan Haitham City, along with its partners, seeks to achieve its strategic goals: to be a green city through the implementation of the central park, which covers an area of 1.6 million square metres to become a vibrant city with open spaces and integrated services.
