LIWA: The people of Liwa in Al Batinah North Governorate marked Eid Al Adha with a series of social and heritage events that reflect Oman’s rich popular traditions and strengthen community bonds.
The celebrations featured 'Eid coffee' gatherings, a longstanding social custom held on the second and third days of Eid in an atmosphere of warmth, familiarity, and community interaction. The tradition has been passed down through generations and continues to be actively preserved.
The events also included performances of traditional Omani arts such as the enthusiastic band displays, Al Razha and Al Azi, with wide participation from residents, adding a strong heritage character to the festivities.
Rabee bin Ahmed al Saadi, a resident of Nibr village in the Wilayat of Liwa, said the 'Eid coffee' gatherings are organised on a rotating basis across neighbourhoods.
The event begins in one area on the second day of Eid and continues in another on the third day, ensuring broad participation and strengthening unity among residents.
He noted that the occasion represents a deeply rooted tradition that carries strong social values, reinforcing solidarity, respect and intergenerational bonding, while also introducing young people to Oman’s authentic heritage and customs.
