Beauty centres urged to follow hygiene standards: Municipality

Muscat: Muscat Municipality issued a set of health and safety guidelines for women’s beauty centres, urging customers and salon operators to adhere to hygiene standards and preventive measures aimed at protecting public health and ensuring safe service environments.

In an awareness poster, the municipality outlined a number of important practices that clients should follow when visiting beauty salons.

The municipality stressed the importance of ensuring that facilities, including seating areas and salon equipment, are clean before receiving services. It also advised customers against using shared cosmetic products that have not been sterilised.

Customers were further urged to verify that makeup brushes, combs and hairbrushes are properly cleaned and disinfected before use, while selecting salons that place strong emphasis on hygiene and sterilisation procedures.

Among the recommendations, the municipality advised clients to inquire about the methods used for disinfecting tools before use and ensure that equipment is either intended for single use or undergoes thorough sterilisation after each session.

The municipality also highlighted the need to ensure that salon workers wear clean protective gloves while providing services.

The municipality said the measures are part of efforts to strengthen public awareness and encourage safer health practices within beauty centres, contributing to the well-being and safety of customers.
