MUSCAT: Sultan Qaboos University concluded its participation in the Russia-Islamic World International Economic Forum 2026, which commenced on May 12 at the Kazan Expo International Centre in Kazan, Russia, with wide participation from countries across the globe.
The University was represented at the forum by Sulaiman bin Daud al Sabei, Dean of Postgraduate Studies, and Mahmoud bin Abdullah al Kindi, Director of the International Cooperation Office.
SQU’s participation came within the framework of its ongoing cooperation with academic and cultural institutions in the Russian Federation.
The visit aimed to strengthen the University’s international presence and explore opportunities for academic and research collaboration with universities and educational institutions participating in the forum.
The delegation also took part in workshops and lectures addressing contemporary challenges in the higher education sector, while engaging in discussions on emerging trends in academic development and international cooperation.
In addition, the delegation held several meetings with representatives of participating academic institutions to explore avenues for joint collaboration, exchange expertise and strengthen partnerships that serve mutual interests. The team also participated in dialogue sessions with students to introduce them to programmes offered by the University for international students.
It is worth noting that SQU maintains academic and research ties with several leading Russian universities through a variety of collaborative programmes in student, academic and cultural exchange. The University also engages in joint research initiatives that contribute to achieving its strategic goals in international partnerships.
