MUSCAT: The Training Development Committee at Oman Rugby successfully concluded the “Coaching Fundamentals & Pathway Seminar,” held on Friday at Golden Tulip Muscat, with strong participation from coaches, teachers, players, volunteers and representatives from various sports across the Sultanate of Oman.
The full-day seminar brought together professionals and sports enthusiasts from different disciplines, reflecting the growing interest in developing coaching competencies and enhancing the sporting education environment across multiple fields in Oman.
The programme focused on key areas for coaching development and understanding while also highlighting modern best practices in athlete preparation and building a high-performance culture — contributing to the advancement of the sports sector and preparing future-ready sporting professionals.
The sessions were led by Shane Smit, Brian Hopkins, Mohammed al Hashmi, and Ali bin Said al Dhahri, who delivered interactive presentations and open discussions that allowed participants to exchange experiences and benefit from practical insights in coaching and athlete development.
The seminar also featured networking activities and discussion sessions focused on strengthening professional connections among participants, addressing common challenges faced within the sports sector and exploring ways to develop professional pathways in sport.
At the conclusion of the seminar, participation certificates were presented to attendees, with widespread praise for the quality of the content and organisation of the programme. The event successfully brought together specialists and enthusiasts from various sports under one platform, reflecting Oman Rugby’s commitment to supporting sports education, expanding knowledge and contributing to the development of a more professional and sustainable sporting community in Oman.
They key outcome was to give sports coaches and the community further professional development, to build on existing knowledge - Continuous Personal/Professional Development. More sessions will follow and be open to everyone in sport.
