ICAI Muscat Chapter Holds AGM, Appoints New Managing Committee

MUSCAT: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Muscat (Oman) Chapter, under the sponsorship of the College of Banking and Financial Studies, successfully concluded its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 4, marking another milestone in the Chapter’s journey of professional excellence, governance, and member engagement.

The AGM witnessed active participation from members, during which key agenda items including the Chapter’s annual activities, financial matters, committee reports, member initiatives, and strategic roadmap for the upcoming term were discussed and approved. The meeting also marked an important leadership transition for the Chapter. Members expressed sincere appreciation to CA Unmesh Bhome for his exemplary leadership, dedication, and valuable contributions during his tenure as Chairperson. Under his stewardship, the Chapter further strengthened its professional footprint, enhanced member participation, and elevated its standing within Oman’s professional and business community.

In recognition of his continued guidance and support, CA Unmesh Bhome will now serve as Advisor to the Chapter, ensuring continuity, mentorship, and strategic direction for the incoming committee.

The newly constituted Managing Committee for the upcoming term was formally announced as follows:

CA Badri Narayan Subudhi — Vice-Chairperson, CA Ashish Subhedar — Secretary, CA Abhishek R Vaishya — Treasurer and Sponsorship Sub-Committee Lead, CA Unmesh Bhome — Immediate Past Chairperson and IT, PR, Media, Legal & Compliance Sub-Committee Lead, CA Gaurav Kapoor — Past Chairman, Sports & Cultural Sub-Committee Lead and Salalah Sub-Committee Lead, CA Ajil James Kurian — CPE Sub-Committee Lead and CFO Programme Lead and CA Jay Duseja — Membership Sub-Committee, Students Affairs Lead and Sohar Sub-Committee Lead

The Chapter said it looks forward to a new term focused on strengthening professional initiatives, promoting knowledge-sharing platforms, supporting member development, and enhancing collaboration within Oman’s finance and business ecosystem.

Following the AGM, members attended a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) session on the theme, “Ethics, Integrity and Accountability: Reinforcing the Foundations of the Profession.”

The session featured a panel discussion with distinguished speakers CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, Past President of ICAI, and CA Sahil Arora, Chief of Corporate Affairs and Business Development at BNW Developments. The speakers shared insights into the evolving responsibilities of professionals in maintaining ethical standards, reinforcing public trust, and upholding accountability in a rapidly changing business and regulatory environment.

The discussion underscored the importance of ethics and integrity as the bedrock of the profession and key pillars that continue to define the credibility and trust placed upon Chartered Accountants globally.

The College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) continues to play a pivotal role in enabling such initiatives, reinforcing its position as a national hub for professional development, executive education, and knowledge advancement in the financial sector. Through strategic collaborations, CBFS facilitates high-quality knowledge exchange platforms, strengthens industry-relevant competencies, supports the development of future-ready finance professionals, and contributes to Oman’s broader professional and knowledge economy.
