MUSCAT: OQ Group, in partnership with OQ Trading and Takatuf Oman, has launched a new phase of the “Oman Pioneers” programme, offering 100 international scholarships over the next five years to support the development of highly skilled Omani talent.
Under the agreement, 20 scholarships will be awarded annually, enabling students to pursue higher education at leading international universities in disciplines aligned with national priorities and future labour market demands.
The initiative reflects OQ’s continued focus on investing in human capital and strengthening the capabilities of Omani youth to support the transition towards a knowledge-based economy in line with Oman Vision 2040.
Eng Ali bin Mohammed al Lawati, Chief Human Resources and Technology Officer at OQ, said investing in national talent remains a core pillar of the group’s strategic direction.
“OQ has a long-standing commitment to empowering Omani talent. Through the ‘Oman Pioneers’ programme, we continue to provide educational and development opportunities that equip young Omanis with the skills and expertise needed to keep pace with future transformations and contribute to achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040”, he said.
The programme is designed to build national intellectual capital by exposing students to advanced academic environments and global research experiences. Beneficiaries will study specialised fields considered strategically important to Oman’s economic diversification and long-term development goals.
OQ said the initiative also reinforces its long-standing partnership with Takatuf Oman in creating educational and professional pathways that are closely aligned with evolving economic and industrial requirements. — ONA
