MUSCAT: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and Dar Al Atta'a Association signed a cooperation agreement on Sunday to construct 45 social housing units at a total cost exceeding RO 1.8 million, as part of the 'Together We Build, Together We Achieve Impact' initiative.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the ministry by Dr Khalfan bin Said al Shueili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, and on behalf of the association by Maryam bint Issa al Zadjali, Founder and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Dar Al Atta'a. The signing took place on the sidelines of the 21st edition of the Oman Real Estate, Design & Build Exhibition and Conference 2026.
The agreement stipulates the construction of 20 housing units in Al Amerat, Muscat Governorate, distributed equally between the 'Hay Al Atta'a No 2' and 'Hay Al Atta'a No 3' projects. Additionally, another 25 housing units will be constructed and distributed across several wilayats of Oman in cooperation with voluntary charity teams.
Maryam bint Issa al Zadjali emphasised that this initiative aims to enhance family stability and social cohesion, noting that the association has successfully constructed more than 220 homes to date under the 'My Home, My Haven' (Maskani Mamani) programme.
In June 2025, the association inaugurated the 'Hay Al Atta'a' project in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah, which included 36 housing units designed according to the latest sustainable technical specifications, including the use of solar panels for electricity and water recycling systems.
She further explained that the initiative relies on a precise mechanism for selecting beneficiaries in coordination with charity teams in the wilayats, where social cases are studied and verified to ensure they meet the approved conditions and specifications.
Subsequently, one case is selected from each target wilayat. She affirmed that the construction, supervision and financing will be carried out according to specified allocations to achieve the desired social impact. - ONA
