Al Sharqiyah South highlights achievements, future vision

SUR: Al Sharqiyah South Governorate on Sunday reviewed the developmental progress in the governorate through visual presentations covering qualitative projects and initiatives in the tourism, economic, service and cultural sectors, alongside infrastructure and digital transformation projects.
The meeting addressed several achievements attained by the governorate, most notably the Wilayat of Sur joining the Unesco Global Network of Learning Cities, its selection as the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2024, and Masirah Island receiving international recognition as the first healthy island in the Eastern Mediterranean region. It also highlighted progress in institutional performance indicators, digital transformation and cybersecurity.
Dr Yahya bin Badr al Maawali, Governor of Al Sharqiyah South, emphasised the importance of the media as an active partner in supporting development paths, enhancing awareness, and conveying national achievements with professionalism and objectivity. He praised the role of media institutions in keeping pace with the developmental movement taking place in the governorate.
He also reviewed the most prominent projects and initiatives implemented during the 2023-2025 period, which included the development of internal roads, the digitisation of services, and the execution of several community initiatives and developmental projects in partnership with the private sector.
The meeting featured a discussion session that addressed various developmental projects and future plans for the governorate.
The briefing was attended by Dr Yahya Badr al Maawali, Governor of South A’Sharqiyah, the Walis, and several officials and media professionals in the governorate, within the framework of enhancing institutional communication, strengthening the partnership with the media, and reviewing the governorate's key developmental achievements and projects. - ONA
