SALALAH: Dhofar Governorate signed an agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals to establish the ‘Atin Nature Park’ project in Salalah at a cost exceeding RO 4 million.
The signing took place in the presence of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar.
Located in the Atin Plain area of Salalah, the project will span approximately 270,000 square metres and is designed as an integrated recreational and tourism destination combining nature, leisure and family entertainment.
The development will feature a water canal, entertainment and play areas, restaurants, rest spaces, public facilities and dedicated venues for events and activities.
The project represents a community partnership between Dhofar Governorate, the Social Responsibility Development Foundation for the Energy Sector, and Petroleum Development Oman, reflecting cooperation between government institutions, the private sector and the local community.
Officials said the project aims to boost tourism activity, particularly during the Khareef season, while supporting sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life in the governorate.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Dhofar Municipality by Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Baowain, Director-General of Projects and Technical Affairs, while Hafeez bin Salim al Haddad signed on behalf of the implementing company, alongside Abdullah bin Mubarak al Shukaili representing PDO. — ONA
