RAKHYOUT: The Directorate-General of Environment in Dhofar Governorate held an introductory meeting on Wednesday in the Wilayat of Rakhyout to present a new initiative aimed at strengthening natural resource and ecosystem management under the 'Pasture Restoration Project'. The effort is part of broader moves to support environmental sustainability and advance long-term development goals.
The gathering brought together the walis of Rakhyout and Dhalkout, members of both the Majlis Ash’shura and the Municipal Council, as well as shaikhs and community figures from the two wilayats. An international team from the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) also participated.
The meeting falls under ongoing collaboration between the Environment Authority and GGGI to improve ecosystem and natural resource management across Dhofar. The initiative seeks to develop a comprehensive road map aligned with sustainable development objectives and green growth strategies for the governorate.
Participants emphasised that coordinated institutional and community efforts are essential to achieving sustainable natural resource management, positioning Dhofar Governorate as a regional benchmark for environmental action. - ONA
