Muscat: Oman Club signed off Round 23 of the Jindal League with a valuable 2-1 victory over Samayil at Seeb Stadium, climbing to sixth place and securing their place in next season’s top flight, while Samayil were left looking anxiously over their shoulder with three rounds still to play.
The home side made the sharper start and struck early through Adnan al Ruqadi, whose powerful finish from inside the area in the sixth minute gave Oman Club an immediate advantage. The early goal injected urgency into the contest and set the tone for an open first half, with both teams pushing for control.
Samayil responded positively and began to settle through the midfield movement of Dawood al Jabri, Musaab al Lamki and Bashar al Mahrami, who tried to feed Hazza al Mushaifri and Sulaiman al Maamari in attack. Oman Club, however, remained compact at the back, with Majid al Balushi and Khalid al Alawi offering solid protection in front of goalkeeper Faris al Ghaithi.
At the other end, Oman Club continued to pose problems of their own, with Waleed al Musalmi and Abdulwahid al Hinai both threatening, only for Samayil goalkeeper Al Khadir al Balushi and his defence to keep the contest within reach.

The visitors eventually found their equaliser in the 29th minute through an excellent set-piece from Musaab al Lamki, who bent the ball over the wall and into the corner beyond the reach of Al Ghaithi to bring Samayil level. The goal restored balance to the match, and the sides went into the interval locked at 1-1 after an evenly fought opening half.
Oman Club regained the lead five minutes into the second half when Al Harith al Mukhaini found the decisive touch inside the box. The move developed through a crowded penalty area before the ball broke kindly for the forward, whose effort took a fortunate path past the goalkeeper and into the net.
TENSE FINISH
From there, the match became increasingly tense, with both teams fully aware of the importance of the points. Oman Club pushed for breathing space and were handed a late chance from the penalty spot, but Waleed al Musalmi failed to convert, keeping Samayil in the contest heading into the closing stages.
Both coaches turned to their benches in search of a final lift, and Samayil threw men forward during seven minutes of stoppage time in an effort to salvage a point. Oman Club, however, held firm under pressure and protected their lead until the final whistle.
The win lifted Oman Club to 36 points in sixth place and guaranteed survival in the Jindal League for next season. Samayil remained on 22 points in eighth place, but with the relegation battle still unresolved, they remain under pressure heading into the final three rounds.
