The Shura council to host Minister of agriculture, fisheries and water resources on Wednesday

MUSCAT: The Majlis Ash’shura will host Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources to deliver the ministry’s statement at the council’s 18th and 19th ordinary sessions.
This was stated by Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Majlis Ash’shura, who explained that the council will hold three consecutive sessions. Two of these sessions will be dedicated to discussing the ministry’s statement, while the 20th session will be dedicated to discussing legislative topics.
Al Nadabi said that the statement will include an evaluation of the ministry’s performance during the Tenth Five-Year Development Plan (2021–2025), the programmes and projects overseen by the ministry during that plan, the ministry’s strategic programmes and investment and development plans for the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), the ministry’s contribution to the GDP during the upcoming plan, expected growth rates, the volume of local and foreign investments, the ministry’s plan for managing financial and water resources, and the ministry’s policies regarding a number of issues with local and international dimensions, including the volatility of global supply chains and their impact on food security.
Regarding the agenda of the 20th regular session, Al Nadabi said that the council will discuss several topics including the draft unified law for managing plant genetic resources for food and agriculture in the GCC countries, and draft air services agreements with the Republic of Togo and the Republic of Cuba. The Council will also review the report of the Youth and Human Resources Committee on developing the individual performance measurement system (Ejada), and a request for discussion to the minister of commerce, industry, and investment promotion concerning the regulation of licenses related to tobacco products and their derivatives.
The secretary-general of Majlis Ash’shura indicated that the Council of Oman will hold its second joint session of the current eighth term on Wednesday, during which it will discuss five draft laws: the draft unified law for international land transport in the GCC countries, the draft law on combating narcotics and psychotropic substances, the draft amendment to certain provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law, the draft amendment to certain provisions of the Penal Code, and the draft amendment to certain provisions of the Mineral Resources Law.
