Oman, Singapore review ties, regional issues

MUSCAT: Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office, received in his office on Monday Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the bilateral relations and existing areas of cooperation between Oman and Singapore.
They also discussed ways to support and develop these relations to achieve the aspirations of the leaderships of the two countries.
The meeting addressed the latest regional developments and the efforts exerted by Oman with relevant parties to reach a lasting solution that achieves security and peace in the region.
Meanwhile, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, also received in Muscat Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
The two ministers discussed areas of bilateral cooperation and means of promoting them in the fields of energy, transport, digital economy, innovation, and other domains that would strengthen the existing partnership and open wider horizons for achieving mutual interests.
The two sides addressed regional developments and exchanged views on ways to de-escalate tensions, support efforts to achieve calm, promote more meaningful dialogue, and prioritise political and diplomatic solutions, thereby contributing to enhancing regional security and stability, as well as ensuring the free flow of maritime navigation and global supply chains.
The ministers also touched upon the ongoing preparations for the third round of the Strategic Dialogue between the two countries, reflecting the mutual commitment to strengthening institutional consultation frameworks and expanding the partnership.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al Hosani, Head of Asia and Pacific Department, Luke Goh, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Nordin Said Hashim, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore to Oman, and officials from both sides. - ONA
