Writers Forum 2026 begins in Salalah

SALALAH: The Writers Forum 2026 was inaugurated at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment in the Wilayat of Salalah. Organised by the Dhofar Centre for Culture, Heritage, and Creativity in collaboration with the the Omani Society for Writers and Literati (OSWL), and the Omani Disability Association, the forum runs until May 13.
The forum brings together a number of writers, intellectuals, and cultural stakeholders through panel discussions and workshops, alongside a book fair that helps spread cultural awareness, encourages reading and creativity, and underscores the importance of social inclusion and the empowerment of all segments of society.
A symposium entitled 'Culture in the Age of Artificial Intelligence' was held as part of the forum, addressing the transformations taking place in the cultural landscape amid modern technologies and the role of AI in shaping cognitive awareness.
The forum also addressed the importance of preserving intangible cultural heritage and enhancing its presence in the face of contemporary changes. — ONA
